Edinburgh Fringe 2018: Harpy @ Underbelly – Book Tickets Now!

May 17th, 2018

harpy18aTicket booking for many of the shows and performances at the Edinburgh Fringe 2018 opened today. Including for Su’s debut show, Harpy.

Birdie’s a hoarder. The neighbours call her a harridan and a harpy, although most have never even met her. They see her hoard as a hazard for house prices. But it isn’t rubbish. It’s her life’s work and it exists because years ago something deeply cherished was stolen, and Birdie’s not been able to give up anything since. She’ll do anything to get this priceless thing back. Anything at all. A razor-sharp drama from Fringe First award winner Philip Meeks (Kiss Me Honey, Honey!), directed by Hannah Chissick and starring national treasure Su Pollard in her Edinburgh Fringe debut.

Edinburgh Evening News: Four Shows To See At The Fringe

May 13th, 2018

een18aLiam Rudden: Four shows to see when the Fringe returns in August…

It might only be May, but already the Fringe press releases are stacking up. As shows go on sale earlier and earlier (check out www.edfringe.com) and venue press offices churn out details of the headline acts they are expecting, there hardly seems any point having a programme launch these days; that’s scheduled for 6 June, by the way.

Looking through the information that’s already out there, here are four of the shows to have caught my eye.

HARPY

Another popular name coming to town is veteran actress and funny woman Su Pollard, who also makes her Fringe debut.

Harpy is a new play about hoarding, from Fringe First-winner Philip Meeks, which tells the story of Birdie, a hoarder the neighbours call a harridan and a harpy, although most have never met her. What they see as rubbish, she considers her life’s work. It exists because of something deeply cherished that was stolen many years before… and Birdie’s not given up anything since.

You can catch Su, triumphant after her stint on the ITV series Last Laugh In Vegas, at Underbelly on the Cowgate from 2-26 August (not 13), daily at 4pm.
