Swing Out Sister and Su Pollard. Michael hosts another game of On The Ball, alongside great music and your Sunday Boasts.

This week he’s joined by British pop duo Swing Out Sister who will be performing a couple of songs live in The Musician’s Circle. Since their 1986 song Breakout, Swing Out Sister have risen to worldwide fame and are back this year with their 10th studio album, Almost Persuaded.

Also popping by for a chat will be Su Pollard. The comedy actress and singer became a household name in the BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi! in the 1980s and since then has had hit singles, starred in numerous programmes and now she’s back to talk to Michael about ITV’s Last Laugh In Vegas.

With just a week to go, the showbiz entertainers continue rehearsals for the biggest performance of their lives, but with nothing going to plan, American producer Frank Marino threatens to pull the show. Comedian Mick Miller tries out his standup routine at a comedy club; Singer Kenny Lynch is struggling to learn a new song for the big night and comedian Bobby Ball, pianist Bobby Crush and singer Su Pollard take time out of rehearsals to try their hand at horse riding with cowboys.

Anita Harris, Tommy Cannon, Jess Conrad and Mick Miller take time out of rehearsals to head out into the desert to meet a Native American medicine man; Bobby Crush takes inspiration for his act from the Liberace Museum, and the comedy acts turn to American comedy legend Frankie Scinta for advice on how to win over a Las Vegas audience.

(Spot Ivy ”Prescient’ Teasdale predicting the rise of social media 80 years before the fact: “I’m not allowed followers” ;+))

Labour or Love. (Series 2, Episode 1). Lord Meldrum gives Teddy an ultimatum – marry Madge Cartwright or be sent to work in his factory. Teddy thinks it’s a bluff but finds that his brother means every word. Alf discovers that Lady Lavender has got money stashed under her bed and schemes to relieve her of the burden.

Trouble at Mill. (Series 2, Episode 2). The Prime Minister is coming to dinner but Alf’s thoughts are consumed by Lady Lavender’s money. At the factory Teddy’s flirtations with the girls causes a mass walk out.

(Series 2, Episode 7) Excitement runs through the household when it’s announced that the King and Queen of Dalmatia are coming to dinner, although Mrs Lipton is upset when she finds out she will not be doing the catering. In addition, Noel Coward is expected to join them after the opening night of his new play.

Please Look After The Orphans. (Series 3, Episode 1) Alf is being pestered by Mrs Lipton to finalise his divorce so he gets an old music hall friend to agree to pose as Mrs Stokes. Meanwhile he has a brain wave to make some money by fooling Mrs Litpton into baking some cakes which she thinks are destined for the local orphanage.

Pilot. London, 1927: Alf Stokes and his daughter Ivy are given the boot from their jobs on the music halls. Alf decides that he has no option but to go back into service as a butler. When he arrives at the residence of Lord Meldrum some familiar faces await him. Starring: Paul Shane, Su Pollard, Jeffrey Holland, Donald Hewlett.

The Phantom Signwriter. (Series 1, Episode 2). Alf and Ivy are settled into their new jobs but things soon start to hot up when Sir Ralph suspects that his wife is having an affair. Lord Meldrum’s car is vandalised – someone has daubed ‘fornicator’ on the side which causes panic when the Bishop wants to use the vehicle.

Love and Money. (Series 1, Episode 4). Lord Meldrum thinks that Lady Lavender has gone too far and wants her declared mentally unstable, whilst Teddy is determined to pay Ivy a visit in her room no matter how dangerous the route. A party thrown for Miss Cissy’s birthday brings a few surprises.
