Jimmy Perry 1923 – 2016

Jimmy Perry, co-creator of Dad’s Army, Hi-de-Hi! and many more legendary British sitcoms, died yesterday, aged 93. Rest in Peace, Jimmy. Su guested on Good Morning Britain this morning, paying tribute to Jimmy: “I shall miss him for his talent and his genius, but I shall miss him mostly because he was my mate“. Read the BBC News report on this sad news by clicking below.

Su to Light Up The Crowborough Christmas Cracker 2016

Su will switch on Crowborough’s Christmas lights next month.

The Crowborough Christmas Cracker 2016

The countdown to Christmas starts in Crowborough’s High Street on Friday 25th November. Stalls will once again line the High Street with stilt walkers, glow jugglers and other street performers entertaining children and their families. Watch out for the cheeky elf whizzing past you on his flying snow chair! Children can have their faces painted and a balloon sculpted for free before jumping on the land train to Santa’s Grotto.

Fantastic live music performances from the Piazza from 4.15pm.

The legendary Su Pollard of Hi De Hi fame and the star of Tunbridge Wells Panto Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be on hand to turn on the christmas lights at 6.00pm.

The stunningly beautiful house and grounds that form the National Trust’s Scotney Castle estate are the perfect backdrop for The Wicked Queen to entice Snow White to take a bite out of that, very special, apple as the team from The Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, on one of the last few hot and sunny days of the summer, launches its 2016 pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Iconic star of stage and TV screen, Su Pollard, takes on the role of the Wicked Queen and, as I find out when I sit down to speak with her, she just can’t wait to play the baddie…

“Oh, you know, It’s absolutely marvelous!”, Su said, “It’s really the only time that I get to be a “baddie”. I don’t really like to be around sort of negative, mean-minded people in general, because, sadly, some people are like that. Luckily most of them are fantastic, as we know, but this is my fabulous moment to go, well, perhaps there might just be a little bit of evil in me and I can let it come out and work with it.”
