The first week of rehearsals for Side by Side by Sondheim are now over. Looks like it has been a great week for all taking part. TV favourite Su Pollard, joined by Marianne Benedict (Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, The Wizard of OZ and We Will Rock You) and Grant McConvey (Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year) just started rehearsing for the 2015 London revival of SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM, opening Friday 11 September and playing through 26 September 2015 at the Jack Studio Theatre. “It’s just a joy to come into rehearsals, have a fantastic team and work ethic,” Pollard said. “Everybody’s really helping each other, we’re very joyful, interested, excited and it makes a real change to do some challenging fun numbers.”

Jo and Tony Tarran have announced Back to Maplin’s 2015, a Hi-de-Hi! themed all day event which will take place on Saturday 3rd October. This follows on from their highly acclaimed previous events and as usual the focal point will be the Cliff Hotel in Dovercourt the town where the series was filmed.
The weekend starts at 11.00am on Saturday morning at the Electric Palace Cinema – seen in the show in the series 8 episode “Only The Brave” – watching Hi-de-Hi! on the big screen plus some rare clips!
Starting at 3.00pm Saturday afternoon there will be cream tea refreshments served at The Cliff Hotel and an opportunity to see an exhibition including photographs and memorabilia.
Saturday evening from 7.00pm sees a carvery meal consisting of a main course, dessert and tea or coffee in the ‘Hawaiian Ballroom’ at the Cliff Hotel with entertainment, Maplins fun and our special guests joining us. There will also be a Q & A session with our invited guests.
Previous guests have included Jimmy Perry, Jeffrey Holland, Ruth Madoc, Su Pollard, Barry Howard, the Webb Twins, Vince Rayner and many others. (However guest’s appearance is as always subject to availability and work commitments)

The event will kick start the launch this year’s Grand Theatre pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, presented by Martin Dodd for UK Productions.

Su Pollard, Dan Whiston and Steve Royle – as well as some ‘very special guests’ – will all be at the Snow White And The Seven Drawfs family fun day on Friday, August 21.
The event at the bandstand, from 1pm to 3pm, will include free activities and giveaways, plus a live broadcast by Radio Wave. The Grand will also be hosting a fairytale fancy dress competition for children, with a chance to win a family ticket to see the panto over the Christmas spell.
Su Pollard – best known for her turn as dizzy chalet maid Peggy Ollerenshaw in TV classic Hi De Hi! – will make her return to the Grand as the Wicked Queen in the festive family special. Her most recent appearances include the evil Miss Hannigan in Annie in 2011 and in 2008 production Shout! with Claire Sweeney.

Su Pollard leads the cast in a new production of Side By Side By Sondheim.
Many of musical theatre legend Stephen Sondheim’s shows are represented in the show including West Side Story, Gypsy, Follies and Company.
In addition to the music and lyrics by Sondheim, the show features songs which have music by Leonard Bernstein, Jule Styne, Mary Rodgers and Richard Rodgers.
Su Pollard may be best remembered for her television work but her stage credits include Me and My Girl in London’s West End and SHOUT!.
