• Out and About!: Su has been been out and about lots recently – Catching up with pals and seeing shows. She’s recently been spotted at the Garrick Theatre, London and was also in attendance at Dusty The Musical at The Charing Cross Theatre.
DUSTY is a unique new multi-media “Fusion Musical”. A celebration of the career of Dusty Springfield, a true innovator, this theatrical event, seamlessly combines the most up-to-date 3-D technology and digital media (some of it rare film footage only recently discovered) with a recognisable musical theatre format of live performance, music and dance. The audience experiences the story as told through the eyes of Nancy Jones, one of Dusty’s childhood friends, and other key figures who accompanied Dusty on her journey.

THE POINT: Video footage at premiere of Steven Spielberg film in 1987 shows cinema in its heyday
At its heyday in the 1980s, The Point was full of celebrity stars regularly treading the red carpet at film premieres.
And this wonderful footage, captured in 1987 at the premiere of sci-fi flick Innerspace – which Steven Spielberg served as executive producer for – shows the height of popularity for this once famous multiplex.
The video was also shot as a fundraiser for Children In Need, and shows stars such as Su Pollard from Hi-De-Hi!, Radio DJ Tony Blackburn and Meg Ryan (the latter of whom starred in the Innerspace film). It also shows members of staff and the catering team putting on a first class feast for the VIP guests.
The Point of course is no longer a cinema, having been vacated by ODEON in February – who have now moved to their new IMAX venue at MK1 Leisure and Retail Park.
