A Touch of Class. Episode 2. Series looking at how the comedies of Jimmy Perry and David Croft became a unique chronicle of Britain in the 20th century. The British have long had an obsession with status and this was reflected in Perry and Croft’s sitcoms. From the Upstairs, Downstairs world of You Rang, M’Lord? to the inversion of the class relationship between Captain Mainwaring and Sergeant Wilson in Dad’s Army, there were always laughs to be found in the nation’s attitudes towards class and social status. Also airing on BBC2 HD. In Northern Ireland it airs at 8.15pm, and in Scotland on Friday 29th November at 7pm.

Su Pollard teams up with Cannon and Ball for side-splitting romp Ha Ha Hood! And The Prince of Leaves

Su Pollard is a comedy icon who needs no introduction.

The Nottingham-born actress cut her comedy chops on hit BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi as scatty chalet maid Peggy and cemented her camp credentials with You Rang, M’lord and Oh, Doctor Beeching.

These days, Su is a musical theatre and pantomime heroine and her latest show, Ha Ha Hood! And The Prince of Leaves, which also stars comedy duo Cannon and Ball, plays Dundee Rep on Saturday night. Taking on the role of Maid Marian, Nottinghamshire’s feistiest female, Su’s world-weary Marian is definitely more matron than maid!

For Better Or For Worse: Episode Eight @ BBC iPlayer

The episode will remain online until Thursday 11th December (BBC iPlayer, the TV and radio catch-up service, has just extended its programme availability from one week to 30 days).

This is the final episode of the first series of the radio sitcom. If and when either Series Two or Three air we will, of course, let you know.
